Hans Wegner for Fritz Hansen China Chair, Rosewood and Black Leather
Designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1944, the China chair has become an iconic piece of mid-century Danish design. It is model number FH4283, part of a series created by Wegner and produced by Fritz Hansen, Denmark. The chair pays tribute to furniture from the Chinese Ming dynasty.
The China chair features a beautiful rosewood frame with striking grain patterns and dovetail joints on the curved back rail. The seat is crafted from interwoven wide canvas straps, topped with a leather-upholstered cushion adorned with button details. On the underside, a Fritz Hansen linen label is attached, along with an additional label affixed to the frame.
Condition report:
The chair is overall in good condition. There are signs of restoration and repair around the joint area, though they are not visible until close-up observation. Straps and leather cushion are in good condition, no tears or rips.
